Malibu High School Announces New Pick-up and Drop-Off Instructions and Increased Enforcement, Effective April 17, 2017
The planned Malibu High School modernization project is currently underway. This requires changes to the current student drop-off and pick-up procedures. Effective upon the return from spring break on Monday, April 17, 2017, the only area approved for drop-off and pick-up will be the green painted curb directly in front of the school. It is extremely important for this zone to stay clear during the posted no parking times to facilitate student safety and to reduce traffic backups along Morning View Drive. Please note that existing parking restrictions will be enforced and cars parked or left unattended during no parking times will be ticketed and/or towed.
The City of Malibu and LA County Sheriff’s Department are working closely with the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District Facility Improvements Department, along with Malibu High School administration, to facilitate the upcoming closure of parking lot D, while under construction. Parking lot D will no longer be available for parking or student drop-off and pick-up following spring break. The district is currently working on interim parking arrangements for staff. A further announcement will be made when plans are finalized.
“We are excited about our modernization project and look forward to our new and renovated buildings improving our learning environment over the next few years,” MHS Principal Dr. Cheli Nye said. “It will take all of us working together: parents, staff, students and neighbors, to ensure this process goes smoothly. We encourage everyone to allow for extra time, be cautious in the school zone, and be patient through this process.”
